Marc Waldauer is running for family court judge under the Democratic and Working Families parties.
Family court judgeships aren't quite as flashy as county executive, district attorneys and and other positions that are coming up for election this November, but a family court judge can have a much greater, direct effect on people's and especially children's lives.
Marc Waldauer is running for a vacant judgeship in the Onondaga County Family Court. Although Onondaga County contains Syracuse, which normally leans blue, the county rarely elects Democrats. Still, Marc has mountains of experience and a real shot this time. Out of all the positions on the ballot, deciding on a judicial candidate can be among the most difficult for the average voter. The candidates don't debate, they can't talk about the issues or give opinions on most topics. Most of us don't know who any of the candidates are, and unless we have a friend or relative who works in law, the most we have to go on is often a lawn sign, a party affiliation or maybe a newspaper endorsement. Marc's hoping that the website [www.waldauerforfamilycourt.com] can provide a little more to help the average voter become an informed one. Much of his campaign have been contributing to the blog and many of the posts have been authored by Marc himself. They try to update the blog biweekly and it can really provide a unique and candid insight into the family court in general and Marc himself as a candidate. His posts on July 17th and August 2nd are particularly interesting.
