While this story is not specifically related to Upstate New York politics, I feel it is noteworthy enough to include a mention on this blog due to the continuing outrageous actions of war profiteers, as well as corporations setting up tax shelters overseas.

From MarketWatch, March 13, 2007:
Halliburton, currently the largest military contractor in Iraq, said it will move its corporate headquarters from Houston to Dubai. The shift is part of a strategic plan to focus on expanding relations with state-owned oil companies, the company said. The Dubai announcement, which comes at a time when Halliburton is under investigation by government agencies over allegations of improper business dealings, has drawn criticism from politicians including Senator Hillary Clinton. Critics are questioning whether the move is really an effort to avoid taxes and recent legal inquiries.
So in essence, Halliburton can continue to rip off the American people through no bid contracts in Iraq and likely not have to pay a dime in taxes in return. Sound a bit a familiar? Remember Enron? Enron too didn't pay any taxes during its final years, using nearly 900 overseas shelters in third world nations to avoid its obligation to the American public.

Where's the outrage? Where has the corporate media been on this? Why so little mention on NBC, ABC, CBS, and of course Faux News?
