A bit of technical difficulties...

Sorry, the site was down for a few hours. I don't know whether somebody hacked in or whether some mischief was going on. Anyway, here are a few updates:

Kirsten Gillibrand voted for the anti-surge resolution and recently spoke with peace activists (http://www.fox23news.com/news/local/story.aspx?content_id=88453198-e8cc-414f-8669-ce46a3496e6a)
Meanwhile, almost all Upstate Republicans were against the recent anti-surge resolution, including McHugh, Kuhl, and Reynolds. Jim Walsh was the only Upstate Republican representative to cross over and vote for the resolution, and I (as well as many others) think this is only due to Walsh's increasing vulnerability representing a district which has been trending increasinly Democratic in recent years. A new forum has been introduced by staffers of Congressman Arcuri where residents of New York's 24th District may express their concerns to the newly elected Representative (http://ny24thers.proboards101.com/)

I noticed that you changed your map to include more of "upstate". I'm just curious as to why you did that... I thought you were going to be concentrating on more on Northern NY and the Adirondack region than, say, western NY. Personally, I think it would suit the site better to focus more on the Northern NY area. There are already fine blogs that deal more with western NY, and you're doing Northern NY a disservice if you spread your writing out to include other regions of the state. Just my $0.02... keep up the good work here.

I contacted Colin to suggest that he either should change the name of the blog to something that was more clearly aimed at the north country, OR change the map-style logo. I really like the new logo...

...and it is a very big state. I don't identify with "Western NY" or "North Country" but I do with "upstate." Lots of bluing to be done everywhere; as it is Colin's initiative, he is, forgive the term, the decider.
